We’ve improved the accuracy of search results, ensuring that items displayed are more relevant to search terms and located closer to the user’s chosen geographical area. In 2024, we integrated WhatsApp notifications for our transactional updates. Why WhatsApp? Research shows that text-based notifications have a 98% open rate, compared to just 26% for emails. This makes WhatsApp an incredibly powerful tool for keeping our users informed.

By implementing WhatsApp notifications, we ensure that both renters and sharers receive real-time updates on their rentals, bookings, and other important actions. The result? More responsive communication, improved customer satisfaction, and fewer missed connections. We are also working on an update to enable users to contact our customer service team directly via WhatsApp, further enhancing the customer experience and retention.

5. Vouchers: Discounts to Reward

We also introduced voucher functionality in 2024, offering discounts both in the form of a percentage off and fixed monetary values. Vouchers will play a central role in rewarding loyal customers, attracting new users and boosting your bookings.

6. Goboony Partnership: Expanding Our Offerings with Motorhomes

Earlier in 2024, we partnered with Goboony, a leading campervan and motorhome sharing platform. This partnership greatly expanded RentMy’s product offering, adding over 3,000 motorhomes to the platform. One of the most heartwarming and impactful initiatives we launched in late 2023 was the Repair Café in Manningtree, which has continued to thrive throughout 2024. This monthly event provides a space where community members can bring in broken items and have them repaired by a team of dedicated volunteers. Not only does the Repair Café help reduce waste, but it also promotes a culture of repair, reuse, and recycling – values that align perfectly with RentMy’s commitment to sustainability.

Here are some of the impressive Repair Café stats from the past year:

  • 195 items brought in for repair
  • 130 items repaired, achieving a 67% repair rate
  • 10-15 volunteers who donated their time and expertise
  • £500 raised by a single volunteer for Essex Air Ambulance through repairs

The Repair Café has had a positive impact on both the environment and the local community, helping to reduce the number of items going to landfill while raising awareness of the benefits of repairing over discarding.
